From survey data to structural models

Cloud2FEM

The procedure that enables finite element modelling starting from a cloud of points. Slices the cloud, reconstructs the geometry of the structure and builds a voxel-based mesh ready for analysis.

Python · Repository Portable version

C2F4DT — PETRAS

The successor to Cloud2FEM: an integrated environment that organises, processes and visualises survey data together with the structural models derived from it, towards a digital twin of the existing building.

Currently a private repository. Release is planned alongside the forthcoming publication.

PETRAS-ontology

Provenance graph viewer and project tooling for the PETRAS ontology: keeps track of where every piece of data in a digital-twin project comes from and how it was transformed.

Teaching and utilities

aLOTofImaginArches

Interactive graphical statics of masonry arches, in the browser. Load a photograph of a real arch, trace intrados and extrados, subdivide the ring into voussoirs, hang loads on it, and move the line of thrust through its three degrees of freedom while the software checks joint by joint whether it stays inside the masonry.

Written for the master’s courses Mechanics of Historical Masonry Structures and Historical Masonry and Wooden Structures at the University of Bologna. Nothing to install: a static web page, plain ES modules, no build step and no dependencies.

JavaScript · MIT · Open the app User guide Repository

getGdata

A simple desktop tool to digitize curves from images or PDFs of Cartesian plots — recovering numbers from a published figure.
